- Description: In partnership with Neem Institute and funded by the European Union under the STRIVE 2 Global program, Hedayah conducted a series of National-led Training workshops in Northeast Nigeria (Borno and Maiduguri). These workshops were built under the “Supporting Families in Countering Extremism and Violent Extremism” program, which aims to assist in the disengagement, rehabilitation, and reintegration of individuals radicalized or recruited into extremism and violent extremism. Two workshops were conducted to support 15 civil society organizations with more the 25 participants. To ensure sustainability of the program and national ownership, Hedayah provided mentorship, support, and cemented the establishment of a pool of national trainers building their capacity to continue to carry and transfer the program’s knowledge to other practitioners and relevant stakeholders.

- Description: Hedayah continues to partner with Mohammed VI Foundation to support the reintegration of women returnees vulnerable or exposed to extremism and violent extremism. In 2023-2024, Hedayah provided capacity building training to 21 social workers and distributed 29 mini grants for income-generating activities to support the reintegration process of women affected by extremism. In 2025, Hedayah will keep working with the foundation on effective civil society engagement to operationalize successful reintegration.

- Description: In regions of Africa hard hit by insurgent activity, children are increasingly affected as victims, witnesses and alleged perpetrators of growing terrorist organisations’ and armed groups’ activities, while the responses to address their unique needs in applying counter- terrorism measures pose enormous challenges to practitioners. To directly address these critical challenges and respond to the numerous requests for assistance from criminal justice practitioners, the IIJ will offer its first subregional juvenile justice workshop in the region to support the implementation of principles enshrined in the IIJ Juvenile Justice Notes for Practitioners. The workshop brought together investigators, military, social workers, prosecutors, defence counsel, judges, detention officials, and other relevant actors from Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
