Initiative on the Practical Use of the GCTF Memorandum on Good Practices on National-Local Cooperation in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism
In September 2021, the CVE Working Group, co-chaired by Australia and Indonesia, launched a new Initiative to promote and operationalize the Memorandum on GCTF Good Practices for Strengthening National-Local Cooperation for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism. The Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD) / Strong Cities Network are the implementing partners.
The NLC Good Practices offer general guidance for those interested in identifying and overcoming barriers to or otherwise strengthening national-local cooperation. However, they lack region- and country-specific context. As such, context- and sector-specific tools, advice, and expertise are required to facilitate the translation of these good practices into national and local action.
Several activities will be conducted in 2021-2023 within the framework of this Initiative:
- An awareness raising workshop to consider how to operationalize the NLC Good Practices;
- A mapping and gap analysis to identify challenges and strengths in select countries/regions;
- Multi-stakeholder dialogues in those same countries and regions; and,
- A Policy Toolkit to provide practical guidance on the implementation of the NLC Good Practices.
