GCTF Initiatives 2019 - 2020
In 2019-2020, the Countering Violent Extremism Working Group Co-Chairs, Australia and Indonesia, in collaboration with the Institute for Strategic Dialogue and the Prevention Project, led the Initiative on National-Local Cooperation in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism, which developed the Memorandum on Good Practices on Strengthening National-Local Cooperation in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism Conducive to Terrorism.
In the same year, the Criminal Justice and the Rule of Law Working Group Co-Chairs, Nigeria and Switzerland, launched the Initiative on Criminal Justice Responses to the Linkages Between Terrorism, Transnational Organized Crimes and International Crimes. With support of the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT), the first part of the Initiative developed the GCTF Addendum to The Hague Good Practices on the Nexus between Transnational Organized Crime and Terrorism: Focus on Criminal Justice.
The two above mentioned documents were endorsed by GCTF Members through the September 2020 Ministerial Declaration.
Several multi-year Initiatives were also launched in 2019 under the framework of the GCTF. These include the:
