22 January 2020
NEW YORK - United States - Initiative Co-Leads, the United Nations and the United States of America hosted the Launch Event in New York, United States of America on 22 January 2020.
The Initiative, announced at the Sixteenth GCTF Coordinating Committee Meeting, will develop an international “Watchlisting Guidance Manual” toolkit, which will pool the collective knowledge of how to create and maintain a watchlist of known and suspected terrorists (KSTs). The toolkit, to be presented at GCTF Coordinating Committee Meeting in September 2020, will serve as a resource for nations to develop their own country-specific watchlisting guidance and to put into practice key parts of the GCTF New York Memorandum on Good Practices for Interdicting Terrorist Travel.
This event, first in a series of three meetings, focused on the objectives, benefits, and challenges of watchlisting.
