GCTF Members, the United Nations, the three GCTF inspired institutions – the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund, Hedayah and the International Institute for Justice and Rule of Law - and other non-member partner organizations were represented at this meeting and discussed the GCTF Co-Chairs’ Strategic Plan of Action for 2016-2018 where the GCTF Co-Chairs Morocco and the Netherlands outlined the trajectory of the Forum over the course of next two years.
The Members also informed the Committee on the Forum’s latest activities with respect to addressing the Life Cycle of Radicalization to Violence, efforts to strengthen juvenile justice in a counterterrorism context and ways and means to reinforce border security and border management. Additionally, the deliverables for the Tenth Coordinating Committee and Seventh Ministerial Plenary meetings, which will take place in New York in September 2016, were also discussed.
An important element of the meeting was the transition ceremony, where Turkey - represented by Ambassador Tunç Üğdül, Director-General for Research and Security Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - handed over the GCTF Co-Chairmanship to Morocco, represented by H.E. Mr. Nasser Bourita, Minister-Delegate for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in the presence of H.E. Mr. Bert Koenders, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
