NEW YORK – United States – Today, the Fourteenth GCTF Coordinating Committee Meeting convened in New York.
The Meeting kicked off with an interactive panel discussion to further the implementation of the GCTF's work. The interactive panel discussion with participation from civil society organizations aimed to connect the multilateral level to the local level and address the current challenges of terrorism and violent extremism.
GCTF Members were furthermore presented with the outcomes of four key activities: the Initiative to Address Homegrown Terrorism, the Initiative on Addressing the Challenge of Returning Families of FTFs, the Collection, Use and Sharing of Evidence for Purposes of Criminal Prosecution of Terrorist Suspects, and the Nexus between Transnational Organized Crime and Terrorism Initiative.
Working Group Co-Chairs updated Members on activities conducted since the last Coordinating Committee Meeting in March 2018 (Tokyo, Japan) and the three GCTF-Inspired Institutions – GCERF, Hedayah, and the IIJ – briefed Members on their work in implementing and operationalizing GCTF’s strategic priorities.
