WASHINGTON DC - United States - On 12 May 2017, the GCTF Initiative to Address the Life Cycle of Radicalization to Violence (Life Cycle Initiative) co-leads, Turkey and the United States, and George Washington University’s Program on Extremism hosted a practitioner-level workshop to introduce the Life Cycle Initiative and its web-based Toolkit to a wide range of practitioners and implementers.
SEMARANG - Indonesia - The GCTF Detention and Reintegration Working Group’s Workshop on “Integrating Prisons into National Counter-Terrorism Arrangements” was hosted by the Jakarta Centre for Law Enforcement Cooperation (JCLEC) on 11-12 April 2017, in Semarang, Indonesia.
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia - GCTF Horn of Africa (HOA) Working Group (WG) Co-Chairs, the European Union and Turkey, convened the Sixth Plenary Meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on 6 April 2017.
ADDIS ABABA - Ethiopia - The Workshop on the Role of Law Enforcement in Relation to Preventive Actions to Counter Terrorism to discuss the role of law enforcement in relation to preventive actions to counter terrorism was held back to back with the Horn of Africa Working Group plenary meeting on 4-5 April 2017.
SINGAPORE - Singapore - Following the Inaugural Meeting of the GCTF Soft Targets Initiative (STI), held in Turkey in December 2016, the First Regional Workshop was convened in Singapore on 30-31 March 2017.
ZURICH - Switzerland - The Eleventh GCTF Coordinating Committee Meeting was co-hosted by Co-Chairs, Morocco and the Netherlands, on 9-10 March 2017. Discussions focused on the future structure of the GCTF Working Groups, based upon the Consultations Meeting held in Cairo, Egypt on 15 January 2017, and the Co-Chairs' proposal for the future structure.
ZURICH - Switzerland - The GCTF’s Countering Violent Extremism Working Group Co-Chairs, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the United Kingdom (UK), organized the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Working Group in Zurich, on 8 March 2017.
THE HAGUE - the Netherlands - Under the auspices of the GCTF Foreign Terrorist Fighters Working Group, co-chaired by Morocco and the Netherlands, the United States led a “Dialogue on Countering Foreign Terrorist Fighters (FTFs) and Radicalization to Violence in Central Asia.”
CAIRO - Egypt - The GCTF's Criminal Justice and Rule of Law (CJ-ROL) Working Group’s co-chairs, Egypt and the United States, held the Fifth Plenary Meeting of the Working Group on 16 January 2017.
